TimeLines. TV
Timelines.tv
is a two-times BAFTA award-winning educational resource, covering 1000 years of
British history in 50 short-form videos.
The
material on the site was originally commissioned by the BBC, and was broadcast between
2005 and 2007 as a series of five hour-long programmes. Timelines: Nation
& Empire won the British Academy Award for best educational resource in
2006. The series was written, directed and presented by Andrew Chater, and produced
by Lodestar Productions and October Films.
In
2010, Timelines.tv was launched as a free-to-view resource for teachers in UK secondary
schools. The site breaks down the video material from the original BBC series along
three parallel timelines, following the trajectory of British social, political
and imperial history. Timelines.tv was conceived and created by Paul
Trainor and Andrew Chater, and won the British Academy Award for best educational
resource in 2010.
