Idols and ideals - aspiration in Heart of Darkness and The Great Gatsby.
The author finds many areas of similarity in these two iconic novels, which is perhaps not surprising given Fitzgerald's own ready acknowledgement of his debt to Joseph Conrad and to this earlier work.
