Wise Children (1999), Angela Carters's last novel, is a rich comic tapestry of life on and off the stage. It contains many of the typical features of Shakespearean comedy - tangled plotting, twins and tranformations - and Shakespeare's plays themselves are intricately woven into the narrative.
