Evolution - making sense of biology.
Does evolution really explain the origin of the amazing diversity of living organisms and their different life styles, or is it just a theory? In 1973, biologist Theodosius Dobzhansky published an essay with the title 'Nothing in biololgy makes sense except in the light of evolution'. This article explains what Dobzhansky meant by his statement, and why evolutionary theory is the central idea that unifies the whole of biology.
