`Love through the Ages' is the new topic for the AQA (A) English literature A2 synoptic unit, and although traditionally the love expressed in poetry is of the romantic and heterosexual kind, the subject clearly encompasses many different kinds of human relationship. The author surveys some of the poetry about paternal love.
