Defying the cutting season.
Every December in Tanzania, during the school holidays, the "cutting season" takes place, when thousands of young girls are forced to undergo genital mutilation - even though it is illegal and the procedure could kill them. This film follows girls who are fighting against thousands of years of tradition, as they escape to a safe house run by Rhobi Samwelly, who works with the police to rescue and protect the girls at risk, while arresting parents and cutters.
