David Olusoga uncovers the stories of generations of people with Arican descent in Britain, unearthing moments in history that have almost been forgotten.

1. First encounters - He visits Hadrians wall where a unit of North African soldiers were garrisoned in the 3rd century AD.

2. Freedom - He visits a slave fortress in Sierra Leone where thousands of Africans were kept before they were transported into slavery by the British.

3. Moral mission - in this episode the moral crusade against slavery in the Victorian era is highlighted.

4. The homecoming - In the final episode, three kings who took a stand against the machinations of the British empire and the life of a crooner whose voice was considered "irresistable"..
