Without vaccination and treatment, infectious diseases can spread rapidly within populations. If the majority of a population is vaccinated, the whole population can be protected via herd immunity. Increasingly, individuals, or a child's parents/guardians, are refusing vaccination - a public health threat. What if a government removed personal choice and made specific vaccinations compulsary? The author discusses the ethical implications.
