In July 2001, 100 000 people gathered in Genoa, Italy, to protest outside the G8 summit meeting of the leaders of the developed world. Many of the demonstrators, despite coming from a range of different pressure groups and ideological movements, were united in their condemnation of global capitalism. What does it all mean?
