Traditionnally, when sociologists have spoken about social stratification and inequality they usually refer to the key sociological concepts of class, gender and ethnicity. Currently, sociologists are rethinking the ways in which members of society may be different, divided and unequal and, in doing so, they have begun to look more closely at age as a source of inequality and control.
